Job summary

Lightmatter is hiring a Staff Electrical Design Engineer to help develop next-gen silicon photonics based AI accelerators and interconnect products. You’ll lead hardware systems efforts, collaborating with mechanical, packaging, and IC teams to design, integrate, and release system-level products at the cutting edge of innovation.

You will own PCB/board-level design, perform modeling and simulations, and ensure manufacturability with high yield.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8+ years in system-level electrical design from concept to production.
• Proficient in schematic design tools (Cadence, Mentor, Altium).
• Knowledge of VRMs, high-speed SERDES, PCIe, Ethernet, QSPI, I3C, I2C.
• 5+ years lab experience, non-intrusive circuit debugging, cross-functional integration.
• Experience with thermal solutions for ICs and board-level systems.

Responsibilities

• Define system-level hardware requirements with system architect leads.
• Design power, memory, and interconnect circuits in analog/digital domains.
• Select electrical/optical components per IC/photonic specs.
• Develop conceptual designs, models, and simulations for chip-modules.
• Review PCB layouts with electrical constraint rules.
• Ensure manufacturability with high yield and robustness.
• Lead integration with mechanical, software, IC teams.
• Support contract manufacturing during prototype and production.
• Collaborate with vendors and supply partners.
• Research new components and technologies to meet goals.
