Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for Sentera sensors and hardware systems. You will plan, coordinate, and execute sensor and hardware integrations for new UAS platforms, and maintain existing integration solutions.

Responsibilities include conducting UAS flight tests to validate performance, designing wire harnesses, and producing technical documentation for internal teams and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proficiency in CAD software; PTC Creo preferred.
• Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 within three months of employment.
• Experience with UAS platforms and sensors is preferred.
• Familiarity with Pixhawk autopilots (PX4/ArduPilot) and MAVLink is a plus.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and attention to detail.

Job description

Duration: 12 months with possible extension

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies related to Sentera sensors and hardware systems.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute sensor and hardware integrations for new UAS platforms.
• Maintain and enhance existing sensor integration solutions.
• Support hardware integration efforts across a variety of UAS platforms.
• Conduct UAS flight testing to validate system performance and functionality.
• Design, fabricate, and document wire harness assemblies.
• Create, update, and maintain internal engineering and production documentation.
• Develop and maintain customer-facing technical documentation and user guides.
• Provide Level 2 technical and engineering support for customers and internal teams.
• Perform hardware and software compatibility testing involving Sentera sensors, UAS platforms, and third-party post-processing software.
• Generate and maintain engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in CAD software with at least one year of hands‑on experience; PTC Creo experience is preferred.
• Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 Certification within three months of employment.
• Experience working with UAS (drone) platforms is preferred.
• Familiarity with Pixhawk autopilot systems, including PX4 and ArduPilot.
• Working knowledge of MAVLink communication protocols is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to independently interpret technical requirements and implement solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Additional Responsibilities

• Facilitate engineering change management processes and ensure seamless communication between engineering and production teams.
• Serve as a key liaison between Sentera engineering teams and external technology partner organizations.
• Contribute to developing product sustainment strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on Sentera sensors and hardware, including their functionality, integration requirements, and field applications.
