Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a Manager - Hardware System Safety to lead and grow the Hardware Safety Engineering team in a fast-paced, highly technical environment. You will guide Agile delivery, sprint planning, and day-to-day development activities while ensuring compliance with ITAR and safety standards.

You will mentor engineers, manage budgets and staffing, and partner with product and leadership to align safety priorities with program goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Hardware System Safety engineering experience
• 3+ years of formal team management
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering required, Master’s or MBA preferred

Responsibilities

• Leads the Hardware System Safety engineering team and sets technical direction
• Owns safety deliverables and ensures quality, scalability, and security
• Manages budgets, resource plans, and staffing for hardware safety
• Conducts performance management and mentorship for staff
• Partners with product, QA, and leadership to align safety strategy with needs
• Oversees complex technical challenges and risk management
• Establishes hardware development standards and best practices
• Drives recruitment and long-term workforce planning
• Represents the team in leadership forums and roadmaps
• Drives adoption of new technologies and agile methods
• Communicates progress to stakeholders and leadership
• Implements and maintains agile project management throughout the lifecycle
• Performs additional duties as assigned
