Job summary

Astreya is seeking a Hardware Support Technician I in Anchorage, AK to support procurement, inventory, and asset management for pre-market consumer electronics.

You will assist with hardware and software reworks, imaging devices, and firmware upgrades while supporting events and maintaining detailed documentation of defects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 0–2 years’ related experience or equivalent.
  • Interest in new technologies and IT-savvy.
  • Inventory experience and comfort in an IT inventory environment.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions to flash drives and image devices.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication.
  • Teamwork and fast-paced adaptability.
  • Strong organizational skills and objective-driven approach.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory and asset management including receipt and disposition of hardware.
  • Document defects of pre-mass production hardware/software.
  • Help with hardware reworks (boards/chips, write-protect screws).
  • Help with software reworks (image devices, wipe data, rewrite hardware IDs).
  • Assist with servo flashing, firmware upgrades, and flashing unsigned images.
  • Help resolve support tickets on device issues.
  • Provide technical support during events (travel often).
  • Other duties as assigned.

What this Job Entails:

The Hardware Support Technician I provides procurement, inventory management, asset management, distribution and logistics services for pre-market consumer electronics across the globe. The role also provides technical assistance to ensure the products are getting shipped with the right image. The person in this role works with cutting edge technology and pre-market consumer electronics.

Scope:

  • Follows established procedures on routine work

  • Requires detailed instructions

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with inventory and asset management including receipt and disposition of hardware

  • Document all defects of pre-mass production hardware and/or software

  • Help perform hardware reworks (e.g., swapping out boards/chips, removing write-protect screws, etc.)

  • Help perform software reworks (e.g., imaging devices to different builds; wipe data, rewrite system hardware ID’s, etc.)

  • Assist with servo flashing, firmware upgrade, flashing unsigned images

  • Helps in resolving support tickets on device issues

  • Help provide technical support during events (travel often required)

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 0 to 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • IT savvy and interested in new technologies

  • Knowledgeable about inventory, and comfortable in an IT inventory environment

  • Capable of following technical instructions to flash drives, image devices and re-write hardware IDs

  • Excellent communicator in both written and verbal English

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Ability to excel in a fast paced work environment.

  • Ability to learn new things and adapt to a changing environment quickly

  • Strong organization skills, and able to identify the steps to be taken to achieve objectives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data experience

  • Excel experience

Physical Demand & Work Environment:

  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing

  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment

  • Must be able to use a computer

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively

  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Salary Range

$17.36 - $27.40 USD (Hourly)

  • Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit.

  • Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position. Where an applicant or employee is placed on this range will depend and be contingent on objective, documented work-related considerations like education, experience, certifications, licenses, preferred qualifications, among other factors.
