Job summary

Hatchet Hardware, an ACE Hardware affiliated family-owned chain in Upstate New York, is seeking a Retail Sales Associate. You will help unload trucks, stock shelves, greet customers, and assist with non-stock orders.

The role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and delivering a positive customer experience across nine stores in towns like Brunswick, Troy, and Waterford. The team values inclusivity, reliability, and a proactive approach to shop operations, promotions, and everyday store duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including weekends/holidays.
• Able to read, interpret, and follow instructional documents.
• Able to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and willingness to grow.
• Knowledge and experience in various departments is highly desired.
• Regular and prompt attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Unload incoming trucks and stock merchandise; keep department clean and organized.
• Execute daily store goals and priorities set by management.
• Work well in a retail team; participate in meetings and share ideas.
• Remove and restock promotional tags and restock displays as needed.
• Assist customers with non-stock orders and consult with a manager as needed.
• Be vigilant about shoplifting and follow company policy to prevent losses.
• Provide excellent customer service by being helpful, respectful, and friendly.
• Stand in the main aisle when not helping customers to ensure coverage across departments.
• Assist customers with inquiries, greet them warmly, and provide information as needed.
• Handle complaints with manager involvement when necessary.
• Stay aware of promotions and inform customers about sales.
