Job summary

KLA in Milpitas, CA is seeking an experienced engineer to lead NPI activities from prototype to production, ensuring new sensor products are manufacturable and scalable.

The role sits at the intersection of Engineering and Manufacturing, coordinating prototype, pilot, qualification, and ramp-up efforts with global suppliers and contract manufacturers, driving DFx and design-for-manufacturing improvements. Strong hands-on hardware background and cross-team communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience in NPI, pilot builds, and manufacturing ramp-up.
• Proven success taking hardware designs from concept through manufacturing release.
• Experience with microelectronics, semiconductor devices, advanced packaging and electronic assembly manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead NPI activities from prototype through production release
• Drive the transition of new products from engineering development into manufacturing
• Coordinate prototype, pilot, qualification, and production builds
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure production readiness and successful ramp-up
• Develop and implement build plans, validation activities, and manufacturing readiness reviews
• Support first-article builds, product qualifications, and production launches
• Drive Design for Excellence (DFx) initiatives, including manufacturability, assembly, testability, reliability, serviceability, quality, and cost
• Identify technical risks and implement mitigation plans throughout the product lifecycle
• Work with multi-function teams to resolve issues discovered during builds and early production
• Support manufacturing test strategies and product validation efforts
• Improve yield, quality, and production efficiency through data-driven problem solving
• Ensure manufacturing documentation is complete and ready for release of BOMs, work instructions, test procedures, etc.
