Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a department of 60+ engineers specializing in electro-mechanical and electro-optical product development for space missions. You will drive workforce planning, partner with program managers to meet cost, schedule, and technical baselines, and advance engineering excellence through rigorous design, verification, and reviews.

U.S. citizen with active SCI access is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with at least 8 years engineering experience.
• Experience leading engineering organizations or technical teams (minimum 5 years).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with active SCI access or Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain SCI access.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a department of over 60 engineers specializing in electro-mechanical and electro-optical product development
• Establish workforce planning including staffing, recruiting, retention, and succession planning to maintain critical technical capabilities
• Partner with program managers to deliver exceptional performance with respect to cost, schedule, and technical baselines
• Drive technical excellence and engineering rigor across development, validation, and verification activities
• Support or chair independent review teams, failure review boards, non-advocate reviews, and gate reviews
• Develop processes and tools which drive engineering quality, efficiency, and speed
• Support new business proposals through technical and cost volume development, detailed task descriptions, and justified bases of estimate
• Unlock innovation and growth through development and implementation of non-contractual technical activities and capital investments
• Build an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture which fosters employee engagement and leadership development
• Partner across engineering disciplines, sites, and regions to deliver best-value business solutions
• Champion engineering productivity initiatives, digital transformation efforts, and adoption of advanced design methodologies
