Job summary

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) seeks a Hardware Development Engineer to advance next-gen industrial computer vision machines and automation solutions. You will serve as the hands-on link between design and reality, performing component validation, building R&D test systems, and reproducing field failures to drive root cause resolution.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
2+ years of hardware design and validation experience.
Experience using electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators).
Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and understand CAD outputs.
Familiarity with industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, IO-Link, Modbus).

Responsibilities

Execute component validation campaigns for sensors, cameras, IPCs, and lighting systems.
Build and configure test fixtures and mounting hardware from drawings with precision.
Design 3D-printed fixtures and alignment jigs using CAD tools.
Perform electrical integration and network bring-up for PLC/IPC systems.
Replicate field failures to diagnose root causes and validate fixes.
Coordinate with vendors to validate corrective actions before deployment.
Perform optical validation including camera characterization and illumination mapping.
Write test reports with pass/fail criteria and gather measurement data.
Write basic test scripts (Python, LabVIEW, shell) for automation.
Maintain calibration, inventory, and safety compliance in the lab.
