Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to support next-gen industrial computer vision machines and automation solutions for AFT. You will be the hands-on link between engineering design and physical reality, executing validation campaigns, building R&D test systems, and reproducing field failures to drive root-cause resolution.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, software teams, and external vendors in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems.
• Experience using electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators).
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Familiarity with Industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, IO-Link, Modbus).

Responsibilities

• Execute component validation campaigns (electrical, optical, mechanical) for sensors, cameras, IPCs, and lighting systems.
• Build and configure test fixtures from mechanical drawings with precise assembly.
• Design and 3D-print custom fixtures and mounting hardware.
• Perform electrical integration and I/O verification for PLC/IPC systems.
• Replicate field failures to isolate root causes and conduct RCA.
• Coordinate with vendors to validate corrective actions before deployment.
• Perform optical validation including camera characterization and illumination mapping.
• Write test reports with pass/fail criteria and measured data.
