Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; Master's desirable.
  • 1 year PCB design or layout experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of digital/analog/power circuit design.
  • Experience with lab oscilloscopes and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Capture schematics, perform layout checking, BOM creation, debugging, and testing of server boards/add-on cards.
  • Modify and enhance existing designs to improve board quality.
  • Prepare technical documentation including specs, layout instructions, and test procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve engineering issues early.
  • Provide technical support to production and contract manufacturers.
  • Perform design verification testing and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support customers and address product-related issues post-design.

Job Summary:

As a global leader in networking solution innovation, Super Micro Computer's mission is to develop and provide the market with end-to end computing solution and high performance networking products. We have an immediate need for a Hardware Design Engineer to join our talented and bright design team. The candidate will play a key role in the development process of in-house server motherboards, by working collaboratively with cross-functional engineering team as well as outside partners to ensure the robust design of the boards. The candidate must be self-motivated and possess a strong will to do great things, with a result-driven mindset to develop the most competitive and endurance board products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):

  • Responsible for schematics capture, layout checking, BOM creation, debugging, and testing of server board/add-on card products
  • Modify and enhance existing designs to improve the quality of server boards
  • Prepare technical documentation including product specifications, layout instructions, test procedures, etc.
  • Collaborate with other teams to discover and resolve any engineering issues in early stage to ensure the quality and performance of the products reach its full capacity
  • Provide clear documentation and strong technical supports to contract manufacturers and production department during the product sample and production stages
  • Provide technical support to production team to solve product problems and related issue from customers
  • Perform design verification test
  • Ensure products conform to engineering specification, regulatory, and customer expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred and Master's degree is strongly desirable
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with PCB design or layout experience is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of circuit design (digital, analog, power) and PCB layout
  • Hand-on experience on lab oscilloscopes and debugging skills
  • Strong communication, written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Prior experiences on PCB design in enterprise networking servers is a plus
  • Must have the ability to work well with cross functional team effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills and problem solving capability
  • Self-motivated, team player with ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range

$90,000 - $105,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
