Job summary

OpenAI Finance is seeking a strategic Accounting Lead, Hardware to build scalable inventory accounting for consumer hardware and robotics. You will partner across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Systems to implement scalable processes and reporting for rapid growth and product launches.

The role is based in San Francisco, CA with a hybrid work model (3 days in office per week) and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of complex areas.
Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and ability to research accounting topics.
Ability to learn new business models, systems, and processes quickly.
Experience building/improving accounting processes, reconciliations, controls, and reporting.

Responsibilities

Lead inventory and supply chain accounting for hardware programs, including valuation and close processes.
Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Strategic Finance on BOM accuracy and margin analysis.
Develop scalable accounting processes for NPI, prototyping, and mass production.
Establish SOX-ready controls and drive continuous improvement in close/reporting.
