R.P. Lumber in Robinson, IL, is hiring a Retail Manager for a hands-on, on-site leadership role. You will run the showroom, coach a team, and ensure accurate inventory while delivering exceptional service to contractors and homeowners.

You will report to the General Manager and help manage showroom, yard, and back-office functions, stepping in when the GM is away. This full-time role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of supervisory or retail management experience in hardware, lumber, building materials, home improvement, contractor sales, or related field.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with limited supervision.
• Working knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, inventory control, customer service, and loss prevention.
• Comfort using a POS system and other retail or business software; estimating software experience is a plus.
• Enough math and business skill to read sales, margin, inventory, and labor numbers and use them to make store decisions.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, generally 50+ hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to perform physical functions including lifting 50–100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead sales at the counter, showroom, and register to model service excellence.
• Train and motivate team to deliver knowledgeable customer service and resolve concerns.
• Oversee showroom operations: receiving, stocking, pricing, and merchandising.
• Manage inventory, payroll, and store performance with accurate recordkeeping.
• Support safety, coaching, and store meetings; contribute to performance and promotions discussions.
