Job summary

Amazon Inc. is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to serve as the technical authority for EtherCAT-based controls architecture across its global fulfillment center network.

You will define topology, device selection, functional safety integration, and scalability to enable high-performance, reliable material handling systems. You will build test benches, lead prototype validation, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure production readiness and strict adherence to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in industrial controls hardware design.
• Experience with EtherCAT or similar fieldbus networks.
• Experience selecting and integrating industrial devices and components.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL 508A.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain EtherCAT network architecture for OneMHS.
• Select, specify, and qualify controls hardware and components.
• Integrate safety devices and safety-over-fieldbus into the architecture.
• Build test benches and lead prototype validation of hardware.
• Review designs for compliance with NEC/NFPA/UL standards.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on architecture decisions.
