Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead hardware and circuit board design for space and aerospace systems in the San Diego area. You will guide concept development, prototype design, integration and testing across high-power processing and controls solutions for satellites and related technologies.

The role requires a DoD secret clearance or eligibility, a strong leadership background, and extensive experience with space-grade electronics, DoD review processes, and PCB design

Qualifications

• DOD Secret Clearance required or eligible.
• Bachelor's degree with 12 years’ experience, Master’s 10, PhD 7.
• Lead responsibility and team leadership experience.
• Experience designing circuit boards/electronics for Space/Aerospace.
• Experience with high-reliability aerospace electronics and space systems.
• Familiarity with DoD review processes (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Strong proficiency with Altium, PADS, SPICE, HyperLynx, ANSYS, Atlassian, MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware and circuit board design for Space/Aerospace products.
• Oversee concept development, prototype design, integration and test.
• Provide planning, direction and oversight to staff on technical efforts.
• Coordinate with DoD reviews and production transition.

A client in the San Diego Area is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to Join their team located in Rancho Bernardo. The successful candidate will report to Electrical Technologies Sr. Manager of High-Speed Digital and, alongside high-caliber staff, will be engaged in the engineering support and new development of satellites and space systems, high-energy laser systems, advanced aerospace and electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communications, nuclear thermal propulsion. We are looking for a hardware and circuit board design lead to participate in the concept development and prototype design, integration, and test of high-power processing and controls solutions for all product lines and technology areas. These encompass high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, high-energy laser systems, battery systems, advanced aerospace and electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communications, small satellites and space systems, nuclear thermal propulsion, optical beam pointing and control, and signal/image processing. They will also function in a leadership role for a project/program and provide planning, direction and oversight to less experienced professional staff or team of professional staff in technical efforts.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with 12 years’ total professional work experience, Master's Degree with 10 years’ total professional work experience, PHD with 7 years total professional work experience
• Need to be comfortable with lead responsibility
• Experience designing Circuit boards/electronics for Space/Aerospace
• Electrical system command and data-handling architecture and technical team leadership; high-speed digital circuit design; embedded processing and controls; analysis, design, and implementation of hardware systems to include digital, analog, and RF is required; guiding a design through development and into production; familiarity with DoD technical review process (at a minimum: SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Desired Skills (ranked high to low): Experience with Altium PCB Design Software, PADS PCB Design Software, SPICE circuit simulation tools, HyperLynx Signal/Power Integrity tools, ANSYS Signal Integrity tools, Atlassian Tools, Microsoft Project.
• Experience working with High-reliability aerospace electronics and electrical systems; unmanned space-systems and satellites, including micro-satellites, cube-satellites, or small-satellites (>500 kg)
