About the Role

The Business Developer supervises sales activities across the North American continent (USA and Canada). His/her key role is to develop API’s sales activity in the area by prospecting, converting new customers, and increasing market share with existing customers that have not yet reached maturity.

Responsibilities

Business Development Strategy:

  • Define, together with the VP of Business Development, sales and development strategies for the US market (including revenue targets, segmentation by region, etc.).
  • Identify segments and companies to approach.
  • Determine the right channels for exposure (e.g., AAFA, AATCC, ASTM, other associations or events).
  • Identify fairs and events to attend in order to maximize exposure and increase brand recognition.
  • Identify target markets in the US and Canada.
  • Create fit to win go-to-market strategies for respective customer segments & categories.
  • Active new customer mapping, penetration at multiple levels and acquisition.
  • Expansion of service portfolio at established customers.
  • Create and maintain prospects database.
  • Create, lead, and coach the team.

Prospecting:

  • Identify contacts, make cold calls, and organize meetings.
  • Prepare for pre-sales by identifying targets (turnover, organization, segment, constraints, SWOT analysis).
  • Prepare proposals and negotiate terms.

High-Level Key Account Management:

  • Follow up with 10 major customers (monitor customer satisfaction, conduct regular visits, etc.).
  • Conduct quarterly visits to VIP accounts.
  • Develop new market shares (increase business volumes, introduce new services, explore new locations).

Representation:

  • Represent API at fairs and events.
  • Act as a representative for API at professional associations.
  • Contribute to enhancing API's brand exposure.
  • Collaborate with the management team to establish sales and marketing tools and solutions for the US and Canadian markets.

Qualifications

University degree in business, commerce, or a relevant discipline.

Required Skills

  • Min. 5 years of national and/or international sales experience.
  • Proven track record of new business development and customer acquisition.
  • Commercial background in service industry.
  • Knowledge in quality management control.
  • Knowledge in quality regulatory and legal environment a plus.
  • Excellent negotiator, mastering sales and communication technics.
  • Demonstrates mastery in areas of leadership, being self-driven and goal oriented.
  • Pragmatic and practical business leader, high sense of organization & methodology.
  • Strong analytical and data skills.
  • Persuasive communicator with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Tech/IT savvy.
