Job summary

Harbor Docking and Towing is seeking a harbor tug Deckhand to assist the Master and crew in the safe, orderly operation of the tug. The role requires unexpired Merchant Mariner Credential, Medical Credential, and TWIC, along with a High School Diploma.

Flexibility to relocate to support Lake Charles, LA or nearby areas is preferred. The Deckhand will work under direct supervision, participate in drills, and uphold safety, environmental, and security standards for the vessel and crew.

Qualifications

  • OS/Wiper minimum credential; National Able Bodied Seaman-Limited or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maneuver the towing vessel safely under supervision of a qualified operator.
  • Maintain unity, order, and discipline among the crew.
  • Familiarize with duties of deckhand and Mate (Pilot).
  • Participate in drills, training, and safety evolutions; enhance vessel safety posture.
  • Assist in vessel orientation for new crewmembers.
  • Report deficiencies to the master.
  • Maintain professional attitude with customers and company personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by company officials or the master.
