Qualifications

• Welding and steel fabrication experience in manufacturing/industrial settings.
• Experience supervising or leading crews with safety and production accountability.
• Ability to teach welding skills with clear explanations and demonstrations.
• Ability to read fabrication blueprints and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and applying approved welding procedures.
• Willingness to perform hands-on welding as part of supervision.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work third shift.

Responsibilities

• Supervise third-shift welding and fabrication crew, assigning work by production priorities and capabilities.
• Provide hands-on instruction and coaching to improve technique, workmanship, and productivity.
• Demonstrate proper welding methods, equipment setup, fit-up, and fabrication practices.
• Read blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication instructions; ensure correct build per plan.
• Verify fabrication instructions and materials match the blueprint; resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure welding/fabrication meets AWS D1.1, CPPs, customer requirements, and quality standards.
• Inspect fit-up, dimensions, and weld quality; identify defects and coordinate corrective actions.
• Weld and fabricate personally as needed to support the crew and production schedules.
• Enforce safety procedures and proper PPE; promote safe operation of equipment.
• Monitor attendance and performance; provide direction and address concerns.
• Communicate progress, staffing needs, equipment issues, and quality concerns to management and next shift.
• Maintain clean, organized work area; promote accountability and continuous improvement.
