Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Machine Test & Development Engineer to join the BCP PD–West Test Team in Clayton, NC. This hands-on role involves spending ~50–60% of time in shops and test fields, interfacing with technicians and engineers to validate machine performance and safety.

You will manage the full test cycle, produce clear reports, and champion continuous improvement across CMDC and SMDC locations. On-site five days a week with relocation support available.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on testing: spend ~50–60% of time in shops/tests fields.
• Data analysis: assess data quality and translate findings to conclusions.
• Client focus & communication: clarify expectations and document progress.
• Project management: manage multiple test activities with priorities.
• Collaboration: work across locations and functions.
• Driver’s license required.

Responsabilités

• Partner with design/validation engineers during pre-test planning to define objectives.
• Build test plans addressing schedule, instrumentation, data collection, risks, and support.
• Apply test procedures and improve methods; document new ones as needed.
• Coordinate with teams to prepare test machines, fields, and equipment.
• Safely conduct tests on prototype and production machines in shop/field environments.
• Verify data quality, troubleshoot, and document changes to scope or methods.
• Analyze time-series and frequency data to develop actionable recommendations.
• Keep clients informed; deliver timely, accurate test reports.
