Job summary

Birdon is seeking a Production Manager in Bayou La Batre, AL to lead safe, disciplined production for the Waterways Commerce Cutter program, coordinating trades and resources. The ideal candidate has deep shipbuilding and heavy manufacturing experience, strong leadership, planning, and continuous improvement.

This role requires timely decision-making and collaborative reporting with program management, engineering, quality, and supply chain.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing.
• Experience managing multi-trade production teams to deliver on schedule and budget.
• Strong understanding of safety requirements and quality controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead production activities across multiple trades to meet schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
• Direct daily operations and translate schedules into clear priorities for each work center.
• Monitor progress, recover from deviations, and provide timely performance reporting to leadership.
• Coordinate with planning, engineering, quality, supply chain, and facilities to optimize production flow.
• Foster leadership development, cross-training, and succession planning within the team.
