Job summary

Birdon America, Inc. is seeking a Pipe Foreman to lead the pipe department at our Bayou La Batre, Alabama shipyard. On-site role focusing on supervision of pipefitters, welders, and related trades to meet project deadlines for a Coast Guard vessel build.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of pipefitting experience with supervisory capability, strong reading of blueprints, and solid leadership and safety knowledge. Competitive benefits and full-time employment offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of pipefitting experience with supervisory/foreman preference.
• Extensive knowledge of commercial and industrial piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and industry best practices.
• Experience coordinating multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily activities of pipefitters, welders, and pipe department personnel.
• Plan, organize, and schedule manpower, equipment, and materials to meet deadlines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
• Coordinate piping installations with project managers, general contractors, and other trades.
• Ensure all piping systems are installed per codes, standards, and requirements.
• Conduct routine inspections to verify workmanship and quality control.
• Monitor productivity and identify efficiency improvements.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate pipe department personnel.
• Order and track materials, tools, and equipment for projects.
• Maintain job site safety and ensure OSHA compliance.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and develop field solutions.
• Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates.
• Submit daily reports, timekeeping, and project documentation.
