Job summary

Tutor Intelligence, Inc. is hiring a Production Engineering lead to design and build the systems and machines that scale our robot production.

You will lead a team of engineers and technicians, set direction, and stay hands-on while moving designs from prototype through pilot into volume production. You will own test strategies, drive manufacturing change, and partner with hardware engineers to ensure buildable, testable and cost-effective designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering; Master’s degree a plus.
• Proven experience leading engineers: setting priorities, assigning work, reviewing output and developing people.
• Hands-on hardware experience designing, integrating and debugging electromechanical systems and root-cause analysis.
• Strong electrical fundamentals: reading schematics, using scopes/meters, isolating problems across power, boards, harnesses, sensors, actuators and interfaces.
• Experience taking hardware from prototype through NPI into volume production.
• Experience building production test systems: fixtures, bring-up, end-of-line or automated test.
• Hands-on design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test with design engineering.
• Experience managing engineering change on an active production line.
• You use AI tools daily in your engineering work and can show us how.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Production Engineering team: set priorities, assign work and review output.
• Grow the team by hiring, mentoring and structuring for scale.
• Prototype to production: own the path from prototype to pilot to volume production with supporting processes and tooling.
• Own test strategy across the line from bench tests to final acceptance.
• Represent Manufacturing in design change reviews and implement changes on the line without sacrificing quality.
• Partner with hardware engineering to ensure designs are buildable, testable and cost‑effective.
• Use data to drive recurring failures to root cause and permanent fixes.
• Stay hands‑on debugging electrical, mechanical and system-level issues to ship robots.
