Job summary

The Astor Companies, a Miami-based real estate developer, seeks a Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting and monthly close. This hands-on role requires independent work, GL management, financial statement prep, and oversight of AP/AR and payroll with HR collaboration.

You will work closely with the Controller, ownership, development teams, lenders, auditors, and external professionals to ensure accurate reporting and strong internal controls across multiple

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with multiple entities and intercompany transactions.
• Strong general ledger and month-end closing experience.
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full-cycle general ledger and monthly close.
• Prepare and post journal entries for income, expenses, loan draws, intercompany transactions, payroll, and other activities.
• Prepare and review monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare monthly construction loan draws in collaboration with the Controller and development team.
• Track development costs against budgets and prepare budget-to-actual and variance analyses.
• Establish and maintain charts of accounts for properties and development projects.
• Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
• Coordinate and oversee the existing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Review AP invoice coding, payment processing, deposits, and related documentation.
• Review and post payroll journal entries and oversee payroll and benefits ( with HR ).
• Prepare management reporting.
• Prepare schedules and workpapers for audits, tax returns, lenders, and other third parties.
• Prepare and submit applicable sales tax filings.
• Assist with preparation and reporting of Forms 1099.
• Research and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies.
• Assist the Controller with financial reporting, budgeting, lender requirements, internal controls, and other financial matters.
• Perform other accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed.
