Job summary

As an R&D Engineering Intern with JLG, you will work alongside engineers and technicians in a hands-on research, development, and test environment supporting new and existing JLG products. This role provides exposure to the design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and modification of heavy equipment, vehicle systems, components, tooling, and test fixtures.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or related engineering field.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings/blueprints/technical specs.
• Interest in working in a hands-on heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or R&D shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Support design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and modification of vehicles and subsystems.
• Assist with prototype builds, test setups, and troubleshooting with R&D technicians and engineers.
• Create and revise drawings and layouts using CAD software (Creo Parametric).
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specs to support shop activities.
• Assist CAM programming and other computer-based manufacturing applications.
• Perform engineering calculations to support design and testing.
• Support vehicle and component testing, data collection, and evaluation of results.
• Help validate new product designs in development and resolve issues on existing products.
• Develop solutions considering safety, manufacturability, quality, cost, and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, technicians, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
