Job summary

DN is seeking a Preconstruction Estimating Intern to gain hands-on experience in civil engineering and construction. You will work with a mentor and contribute to real projects, learning the lifecycle of heavy-civil construction from conception to completion.

You will assist in evaluating site conditions, generating tank site layouts, and preparing takeoffs and cost estimates using Civil 3D and Excel. This internship offers practical exposure to bidding processes and field visits.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management undergraduate program. A concentration in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Experience with CAD software (preferably AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Ability to problem-solve in individual and team settings.
• Relocation to Irving, TX

Responsibilities

• Assist Regional Estimators with the evaluation of project site conditions and the generation of tank site layout drawings using AutoCAD
• Prepare earthwork takeoffs using Civil 3D and sitework cost estimates using Excel
• Solicit bid level pricing for cranes, rebar installation, fence work, and various other subcontractor scopes of work
• Preparation of Requests for Quotation after local subcontractors have been identified
• Gain insight into the process of developing and bidding construction projects
• Opportunities to visit our local tank construction sites
