Job summary

DN is seeking a Preconstruction Estimating Intern locally in San Diego, CA, able to work about 20 hours per week starting January 2026, with summer internship opportunities available. The role offers hands-on experience in civil engineering and construction under a dedicated mentor, contributing to real projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities include assisting with site condition evaluation, tank site layouts in AutoCAD, earthwork takeoffs in Civil 3D, and bidding tasks.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management undergrad program, Civil Eng preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD) and MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Strong communication and time-management skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Regional Estimators with evaluating project site conditions and generating tank site layouts in AutoCAD.
• Prepare earthwork takeoffs using Civil 3D and sitework cost estimates in Excel.
• Solicit bid-level pricing for cranes, rebar installation, fence work and other subcontractor scopes.
