Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Portables Support Technician to assist in inspection, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire protection equipment. This role provides hands-on training under direct supervision and supports experienced technicians while learning NFPA standards and company safety procedures.

Responsibilities include assisting with inspections, tagging, documentation, and basic compliance checks, as well as transporting tools to job sites and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• No minimum experience required.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving role).

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment under direct supervision.
• Support senior technicians with service tasks including tagging, documentation, and basic compliance checks.
• Learn and follow NFPA standards, company procedures, and safety protocols.
• Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed as directed.
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working in the field.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and needs.
• Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
