Job summary

Horsepower Automotive Group in Chandler, Arizona is seeking a hands-on Assistant Plant Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations on the plant floor. You will partner with the Plant Manager to set the production schedule, manage a team of 80+ associates, and drive safety, quality, throughput and cost improvements using KPI data.

You’ll own the production plan with cross-functional partners, oversee maintenance planning, and coach supervisors and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) plus 5-7+ years of manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years of managerial experience in a plant or manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading a team of 80+ employees.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a 'lead from the front' management style.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day production operations, spending the majority of your time on the plant floor.
• Build the production schedule with cross-functional partners based on forecast and material availability.
• Manage production crews, activities, and resources to consistently hit production goals.
• Own uptime and work with the production manager on maintenance planning for production equipment.
• Oversee Quality Control process and KPIs to measure team performance and drive improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost and increase throughput, uptime.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance on the shop floor.
• Lead, coach, and develop subordinate supervisors and staff, partnering with vendors to ensure reliable service.
