Job summary

Gilder Search Group seeks an Environmental Education Instructor (Temporary/Hourly) to support St. Mary’s County Public Schools by delivering engaging environmental education programs.

You will implement experiential learning aligned with state and local standards and work across Pre-K–12 to promote student achievement through hands-on activities. The role requires outdoor instruction in varying weather and terrains, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher required.
• Experience in outdoor or environmental education.
• Water safety, canoeing or kayaking experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work with students of all grade levels.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and implement county-wide environmental education programs.
• Deliver instructional programs aligned with state standards and curriculum goals.
• Collaborate with Environmental Education Coordinator to develop content and field programs.
• Teach environmental field and classroom programs for Pre-K-12 at multiple sites (ecology, natural resources, canoeing, water safety).
• Provide professional development and instructional support for teachers and staff.
