Job summary

Living Classrooms Foundation in Baltimore is seeking a Garden and Environment Educator for the BUGS program. The role focuses on urban gardening, habitat education, and hands‑on outdoor learning with middle school students, year‑round in campus gardens and greenhouses.

You will design and lead garden‑based lessons, support a Farmer’s Market, coordinate volunteers, and collaborate with school staff on environmental activities. A passion for outdoor education and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience with urban gardening and agriculture.
  • Knowledge of raised-bed, greenhouse, hydroponics and aquaponics practices.
  • Familiarity with local flora, ecology and environmental education.
  • Comfort working with diverse youth and communities.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hands‑on garden and environmental lessons for students.
  • Maintain garden beds, greenhouse spaces, worm bins and aquaponics systems.
  • Plan year‑round growing programs and student projects.
  • Coordinate major events like the Farmer’s Market and field trips.
  • Support data collection and parent/guardian communication.
