Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join the Product Support and Development - Mechanical team within the Manufacturing Division. This role focuses on hands-on design, problem solving, and collaboration with customers to deliver robust mechanical solutions for our facilities.

You'll work with CAD tools, including SolidWorks, to develop and iterate designs, support production staff on the shop floor, and participate in design reviews.

Qualifications

• 2-year+ technical degree or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
• Competence with applied physics, geometry, algebra, and basic trigonometry is required.
• CAD experience is required.
• 2+ years of experience in three or more areas such as mechanical design and analysis, materials and processes, mechanics, manufacturing engineering, or electronic manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on design work, problem-solving, and direct collaboration with customers.
• Assist in development of mechanical solutions for safer, more reliable production environments.
• Use CAD tools and SolidWorks for design and validation on the production floor.
• Participate in design reviews and provide/receive feedback.
• Contribute to agile projects, delivering results on time and within budget.
