Job summary

Kelly Engineering is seeking a Manufacturing/Production Engineer to join a heavy industrial fabrication facility serving the energy, nuclear, and marine industries. This role focuses on improving processes, supporting operations, increasing throughput, reducing costs, and ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who works on the shop floor, collaborates with production teams, and drives continuous improvement initiatives in a custom fabrication

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of manufacturing or production engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
• Hands‑on experience improving manufacturing processes.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and production operations.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, CI, and RCA.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily engineering support to production, fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and testing operations.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and implement improvements that increase productivity, quality, and safety.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions, routings, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Design and improve tooling, fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing methods to support efficient production.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve product flow.
• Lead root cause investigations for production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Support new product introductions by developing manufacturing plans and ensuring manufacturability.
• Analyze production metrics, cycle times, labor utilization, and equipment performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events, 5S, waste reduction, and value stream improvements.
