Job summary

OmniSource is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead daily maintenance, ensure safe and reliable operation of equipment, and drive continuous improvement. You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate preventive work, and work closely with engineering to improve machines and processes.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and cost-conscious maintenance, with a focus on reducing downtime and optimizing asset performance across utilities and production systems.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years maintenance experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong verbal skills to communicate with internal and external customers.
• Strong writing skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Advanced Problem-Solving Skills.
• Advanced mathematical skills.
• Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensures scheduled repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines and equipment are completed accurately and on time to keep production running.
• Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines or equipment to improve products.
• Directs maintenance on utility systems to provide continuous heat, power, gas, or air for operations.
• Implements preventative maintenance program with engineering and maintenance staff.
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with standards.
• Implements new methods to improve operations and reduce costs.
• Discusses equipment needs with design engineers and obtains quotes for projects.
• Responsible for ensuring emission control systems work properly and compliance with regulations.
• Drives training of workers and promotes safety and company policies.
• Manages personnel and budgets to control costs and optimize asset care.
• Monitors training and suggests workflow improvements.
• Involved in Lean initiatives affecting production methods and equipment performance.
• Supervises and motivates staff to meet maintenance goals.
• Ensures plant safety and handles disciplinary actions as needed.
• Lead coordination with management on personnel issues.
