Job summary

FedGeek is seeking a hands-on Information Technology Director to own the day-to-day IT function for an organization of approximately 150 employees. This role is primarily hands-on corporate IT operations, including onboarding, offboarding, asset management, licensing, and vendor coordination.

The position also maintains an environment aligned with CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171, translating compliance requirements into concrete configurations and repeatable daily practices.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible, hands-on corporate IT experience.
• Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID in a small or mid-sized Org.
• Hands-on experience with user provisioning, onboarding/offboarding, endpoint deployment, IAM, MFA, device security, encryption, patching, and technical support.
• Experience supporting Windows laptops and a geographically distributed workforce.
• Experience managing IT assets, licenses, hardware procurement, vendors, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, or similar security framework.
• Ability to resolve routine IT issues independently rather than only as a manager or auditor.
• Strong judgment, documentation habits, and ability to communicate risks to leadership.
• Ability to work independently in a lean corporate environment.

Responsibilities

• Own FedGeek’s day-to-day corporate IT operations and serve as the first escalation point for tech issues.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Google Workspace, email, user accounts, groups, permissions, licenses, shared resources, and other corporate apps.
• Manage the complete employee IT lifecycle including onboarding, provisioning, equipment deployment, and offboarding.
• Provide remote and hands-on support for ~150 employees, including executives and government personnel nationwide.
• Configure, inventory, maintain, recover, and dispose of laptops, mobile devices, and IT assets.
• Manage endpoint configuration, MFA, EDR, patching, device policies, and remote-management tools.
• Troubleshoot Windows devices, Microsoft 365, identity, VPNs, and connectivity issues.
• Maintain IT documentation, knowledge bases, and onboarding/offboarding checklists.
• Evaluate technology improvements and AI-enabled tools to improve service quality, security, and efficiency.
