Job summary

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office IT Application Development Internship offers hands-on experience in a law-enforcement tech environment. You’ll assist with application development, testing, SharePoint migration, documentation, and project support while learning from seasoned IT professionals.

The ideal candidate is a motivated student with strong IT interest, good problem-solving and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s level program in information technology, computer science, or related field.
• Minimum 2.5 GPA.
• Minimum 18 years of age and valid driver’s license.
• Strong writing and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Flexibility and multitasking ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, maintenance, and enhancement of internal software applications under guidance of senior developers.
• Support testing activities by creating/executing automated and manual test cases.
• Participate in SharePoint migration projects and post-migration testing.
• Troubleshoot issues, document defects, and assist with fixes and enhancements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and support deployments.
• Assist with project planning tasks, status updates, and documentation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and testing procedures.
• Maintain IT department work areas and assist with recruitment/community outreach as directed.
