Job summary

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in Largo, FL seeks an Information Technology Senior Project Manager to provide division-level oversight of IT projects and applications. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, business, finance, public administration, construction management, engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • Four years’ in project management experience including 1 year of supervision or supervisory training;
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • A certification in project management such as PMI’s PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner.
  • Experience includes working across varied schedules including special, emergency, and disaster situations.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.

Job description

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking to fill a vacancy of Information Technology Senior Project Manager.

This position works dayshift, Monday-Friday.

Consideration given for relevant experience.

The background investigation process may take up to 6 weeks depending upon the complexity of the applicant's background and position for which they've applied.

Under the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, the primary focus of this position is to provide professional division level oversight for employee assistance regarding IT service, projects, or application and infrastructure. Work is reviewed through observation and results obtained. Specific job duties determined by assignment.

SUPERVISES OTHERS: No

  • Plans and coordinates large, multi-divisional projects such as information technology upgrades, Enterprise Resource Planning implementation, and building construction efforts.
  • Coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects.
  • Ensures that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Assists in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Plans and assesses project deliverables and related costs necessary to achieve goals of projects and assignments.
  • Coordinates and manages assignments and project budgets including the following phases: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling and closing.
  • Directs staffing resources assigned to projects, assuring accountability and completion of their assigned tasks, and collaborates with management to provide resource availability.
  • Ensures projects progress according to schedule and addresses any delays resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Performs risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation.
  • Tracks project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U. S. Dept. of Education in information technology, business, finance, public administration, construction management, engineering, project management, or a related field; or
  • Four years’ in technical and professional level experience in project management including 1 year of supervision or supervisory training; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience; and
  • A certification in project management such as the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner.
  • Experience should comprise assignments working a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to create reports, respond to surveys, create statistical summaries, and to write and revise policies, letters memos, etc.
  • Ability to identify existing or potential problems and to develop ways to resolve issues
  • Working knowledge of the functions, activities, requirements, and objectives of the area assigned
  • Knowledge of agency budget development and management procedures
  • Ability to operate equipment and instruments utilized in meeting job requirements and operational responsibilities
  • Ability to motivate staff and fellow employees by directing and modifying procedures and controls; encourage employee behavior to achieve both personal and agency goals in order to fulfill the mission of the agency
  • Ability to review and/or complete personnel evaluations of staff in accordance with agency policies to ensure they are fair and impartial, and accurately reflect the job the employee performs
