Job summary

Kemps in Rockford, IL is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead a maintenance crew, ensuring safe, reliable operations across production equipment.

You will prioritize work orders, mentor staff, and partner with the Maintenance Manager on preventive maintenance, with a focus on GMP, safety, and continuous improvement.

This role offers a 2nd shift schedule (Mon-Fri, 1:30 pm–10:30 pm) and opportunities for growth within our farmer-owned dairy cooperative.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years industrial maintenance experience; food manufacturing a plus.
• Maintenance across electrical, welding, boiler, ammonia, refrigeration, and plumbing.
• Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Experience leading safety and security policies & procedures.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience using a CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and assign daily jobs and work orders; direct maintenance staff.
• Administer promotions, transfers, timekeeping, performance reviews; mentor staff.
• Assist Maintenance Manager with preventive maintenance work orders.
• Support preventive maintenance programs and monitor performance indicators.
• Serve as first point of contact for emergency maintenance.
• Maintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds.
• Ensure compliance with policies and standards in projects and daily work.
