Job summary

Fletcher Technical Community College invites applications for the Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor role in the Energy & Advanced Technologies division. This 12-month, unclassified faculty position requires a current FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings and a strong background in aviation maintenance.

You will teach approved aviation maintenance curriculum through hands-on instruction, develop course materials and assessments, mentor students, and collaborate

Qualifications

  • Must hold FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Minimum five years of aviation maintenance experience or equivalent military service.
  • Experience at or above the highest level of skill being taught.
  • One of: AA in aviation maintenance; AA + relevant experience and industry certs; 10+ years in the field.
  • Ability to serve as the school administrator for FAA requirements.
  • Strong instructional, organizational, communication skills.
  • Commitment to student success, safety, inclusivity in teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach approved aviation maintenance curriculum with hands-on instruction.
  • Prepare syllabi, assignments, assessments, and exams.
  • Instruct students in safe use of aircraft, tools, and lab facilities.
  • Create an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.
  • Monitor attendance, progress, grades, and learning outcomes.
  • Advise, mentor, and refer students to services.
  • Build relationships with aviation employers to support workforce development.
  • Participate in program advisory meetings and recruitment events.
  • Collaborate to improve curriculum and resources.
  • Maintain compliance with FAA, accreditation, and college policies.
