Southwestern Illinois College seeks a full-time, tenure-track Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor for the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program in the Technical Education Division. The role includes developing, teaching, and maintaining lab and lecture courses in Airframe and Powerplant, assessing student performance, and collaborating with colleagues.

Qualifications

• FAA A&P license from an approved PART 147 school is required.
• Bachelor's degree (BS) preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Three years of general aviation, air transportation, or military experience as a full-time paid airframe and powerplant mechanic is required.
• Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
• Two years of teaching experience or corporate training is strongly preferred.
• Minimum instructor requirements as established by the Board of Trustees and the FAA for all assigned courses must be met.
• Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and advising skills is preferred.
• Experience in outcomes assessment or a quality assurance program is preferred.
• Experience in working with diverse student populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, teach and maintain lecture and laboratory courses in both traditional and computer-aided environments in the Airframe and Powerplant curriculum.
• Assess student performance and collaborate with faculty to evaluate instructional effectiveness.
• Participate in professional development activities and serve on committees as needed.
