Summary
The Aviation Maintenance Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring that students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. In addition to teaching, the instructor manages essential administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum. This role is pivotal in fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and prepares them for careers in the aviation industry.
Essential Functions

  • Teach classes on a scheduled basis, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment that fosters student engagement and enhances learning in aircraft maintenance.
  • Assist the Director to develop and refine curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained for student use.
  • Maintain accurate academic and attendance records for each student, submitting attendance, grades, evaluations, and other documentation as required by A&P Mechanic Institute's policies and procedures.
  • Proactively notify the Director of any current or potential issues that require immediate attention and implement proven retention techniques to support student success.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests to the Director as needed.
  • Monitor student attendance closely.

Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Director, contributing to the overall success of the aircraft maintenance training program

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Evaluate students against FAA standards (e.g., ACS tasks), focusing on mastery of knowledge, skills, and behaviors. Provide detailed critiques to guide improvement and prepare for certification exams.
  • Monitor student behavior and practices in the lab environment.
  • Consistently model safe practices (e.g., proper use of personal protective equipment, hazard identification) in all training activities, as students often emulate instructor behaviors.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move around classrooms, shops, and hangars to oversee training activities, including standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of training materials or equipment (up to 50 pounds) as needed for demonstrations or setup.
