Job summary

Amtec Staffing is seeking an Electronics Engineer in the San Diego area to design, build, and improve electronic hardware for our products. You will work closely with the Principal Electrical Engineer and collaborate with R&D, Production, and Quality to move designs from concept through testing and production.

You will design circuits and schematics, contribute to PCB/PCBA, develop prototypes, troubleshoot with lab equipment, and document decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics engineering is required.
• 3–5 years of hands-on hardware design experience.
• Experience creating schematics and PCB layout/PCBA with prototypes through testing and revision.
• Strong knowledge of embedded microcontrollers and surrounding circuitry; diagnostics with lab equipment.
• Strong fundamentals in analog/mixed-signal design and debugging.
• Ability to work across disciplines (R&D, Production, Quality) in a small team.
• Familiarity with board repair, product development from design to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design electronic circuits and schematics for embedded hardware.
• Contribute to PCB layout and PCBA design, including component selection and revisions.
• Develop and test prototypes; use measurements and simulations to troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams from concept to production.
• Document designs, test findings, and decisions clearly.
• Support production troubleshooting and product improvements.
• Learn thermal-measurement products and grow ownership of design work.
