Job summary

Pro-Active Engineering is seeking a Design Engineering Intern (Electrical) for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience in designing, testing, and documenting electronic products. You will work on circuit design, PCB development, prototyping, and cross-functional product development in a collaborative team environment.

The role involves assisting with schematic capture, PCB layout, lab testing, and preparing technical specifications, BOMs, and test procedures.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with schematic design, circuit analysis, simulation, and PCB layout for new and existing products.
• Support electrical component research, evaluation, selection, and qualification.
• Create and maintain component libraries and design data within electronic design tools such as Altium Designer or KiCad.
• Develop and update bills of materials (BOMs), electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and debug prototypes using oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, function generators, and other lab equipment.
• Assist with circuit calculations, design verification, and validation testing.
• Support the development of test procedures, test reports, and other engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, process, and quality teams to ensure designs meet manufacturability and testability requirements.
• Follow applicable electrical safety, ESD, quality, and engineering standards.
