Job summary

iCook After School offers hands-on cooking and nutrition education for K-4 students, delivering engaging after-school classes across CT communities. We are seeking dedicated instructors who can bring energy and joy to the classroom while teaching science, nutrition, and cultural stories through cooking.

Classes run in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, typically from 3 to 5 pm, with about one hour of instruction per class.

Qualifications

• Experience working with large groups of kids.
• Enthusiastic about teaching, cooking and nutrition.
• Effective classroom management skills.
• Energetic personality and ability to keep students engaged.
• Punctuality and reliability with access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead after school cooking/STEAM classes for elementary students (K-4) while getting them excited about trying fun and creative recipes and experiments.
• Teach provided lesson plans related to basics of nutrition and healthy eating.
• Introduce kids to basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners and other concepts provided in the curriculum
• Purchase groceries for each class based on the recipes provided (we reimburse separately for the groceries)
