Job summary

Building Controls and Services, Inc. (BCS) is seeking a Controls Engineer Intern in Overland Park, KS. The role supports design, installation, and testing of control systems, focusing on HVAC and building automation.

Expect collaboration with the Controls Team Lead on projects and ongoing learning to grow technical expertise. Responsibilities include developing project information, generating RFIs, and assisting with installation, startup, and turnover.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of automation, HVAC and electrical concepts and operations.
• Able to read blueprints, safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Proficient with AutoCAD drafting standards and engineering workstations.
• Proficient with Windows OS for workstation/server apps.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Solid math skills for units, rate, ratio and graphs.
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
• Able to follow written or oral instructions and prioritize tasks.
• Willingness to travel or overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Updates project information and documentation.
• Develops system layouts and database content to meet project goals.
• Generates RFIs and extracts information from blueprints and specs.
• Prepares network layout overview and as-built drawings.
• Assists with installation, startup, and turnover of controls projects.
• Provides customer service and technical support to clients and team.
