Job summary

Madison Street Search partners with an established manufacturing company in the northern Chicago suburbs seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and finance function under the CEO’s direction.

The role focuses on overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting, cash flow, and compliance, while guiding budgeting and forecasting and partnering with purchasing, supply chain, and sales to improve margins and working capital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting (GL, close, AP/AR, reporting).
• Strong background in inventory and product costing.
• CPA strongly preferred; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Competitive compensation package and strong collaboration with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting and financial operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting, cash flow, and compliance.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting while partnering with purchasing, supply chain, and sales to improve margins and working capital.
• Manage a small accounting team, optimize financial processes, and serve as a key financial partner to executive leadership and investors.
