Job summary

American Overhead Door & Dock is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function and own NetSuite-based processes. You will manage monthly close, revenue recognition for installation contracts, job costing, and internal controls, with direct exposure to the CEO and board.

The role offers leadership over a growing finance team in a private equity–backed environment. The position requires a CPA-preferred degree, 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager roles.
• Hands‑on experience with percentage‑of‑completion accounting, WIP reporting, and job costing in construction/field services.
• Experience designing accounting policy and internal controls.
• Experience managing and developing direct reports.
• ERP experience with NetSuite and Advanced Excel; ability to build searches and reports independently.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements.
• Prepare the monthly financial reporting package, including variance analysis and commentary for executive leadership and the sponsor.
• Direct revenue recognition for installation contracts, including percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP schedules, and revenue accruals.
• Maintain the estimate-to-complete process and coordinate with Operations to ensure current, supportable cost-to-complete estimates.
• Analyze job profitability, over- and under-billings, retainage, and change orders.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, approval matrices, and segregation of duties across close, AR, AP, and payroll cycles.
• Oversee annual audit relationship and manage engagement from planning through issuance.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on filings and support sales, use, and payroll tax compliance.
• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including billing accuracy, aging, collections, and vendor payments.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Serve as the NetSuite owner; research transactions and resolve data issues directly in the system.
• Build and maintain saved searches, reports, and reconciliations to enable proactive analysis and automation.
• Partner with IT and consultants on NetSuite configuration and reporting enhancements.
• Manage, develop, and mentor the accounting team across general accounting, AR, AP, and payroll.
