Job summary

SC Executives in the United States is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead our accounting organization within a growing construction business. You will own financial reporting, project accounting, and internal controls, ensuring GAAP compliance and timely closes.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with deep construction accounting experience, WIP and PoC revenue recognition expertise, and a proven track record leading accounting teams.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8–10 years progressive accounting experience in construction.
• At least 5 years leading and managing accounting teams.
• Expertise in WIP reporting, PoC revenue recognition, and job costing.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and financial statement prep.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, cash management, and related accounting operations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per U.S. GAAP.
• Lead month-, quarter-, and year-end close with calendars, ownership, and review controls.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Prepare documentation for annual audits.
• Oversee project accounting across multiple construction projects and entities.
• Review budgets, job cost reports, cost allocations, commitments, and profitability analyses.
• Ensure accurate accounting for change orders, retainage, subcontractor billings, and costs to complete.
• Partner with project managers and operations to monitor performance and risks.
• Analyze contract terms and their financial impact throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and review WIP schedules and PoC revenue recognition.
• Mentor accounting staff; set expectations; delegate and coach.
• Foster collaborative, high-performance culture.
