Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking highly motivated Civil Engineering Interns for Summer 2027. This paid full-time internship runs June through August 2027 (flexible) with potential to transition into a full-time role after graduation.

You will work under project managers and team leaders, collaborating with engineers, scientists, and technologists. The position emphasizes hands-on design tasks, site layout, utility design, drafting, and construction drawings using AutoCAD, Civil-3D,

Qualifications

Must be pursuing a Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated, detail oriented person.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
Honest, hardworking and eager to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

Support civil engineer design tasks including sheet setup, drafting, and proposal development.
Support site layout and grading, utility design, cost estimates, bridge and highway design.
Assist in the preparation of civil construction drawings.
Use AutoCAD, Civil-3D, HydroCAD, Microstation, PondPack, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Fully in-person position.
May include field work and occasional driving as part of project responsibilities.
