Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking highly motivated Civil Engineering Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program.

This is a paid full-time position running from June through August 2027 with potential transition to a full-time role after graduation. You will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders, partnering with engineers, scientists, and technologists on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Pursuing a Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, CAD, or related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Applicants must possess a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support civil engineer design tasks including sheet setup, drafting, and proposal development.
• Support site layout and grading, utility design, cost estimates, bridge and highway design.
• Assist in the preparation of civil construction drawings.
• Use AUTOCAD, Civil-3D, HydroCAD, Microstation, PondPack, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
• Work in the field with a construction inspector.
• Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Communicate with contractors.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.
