Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Aberdeen, SD for a 10-12 week Summer program to work with a team of engineers on analysis, design, field inspections, reports, permits, drainage and grading design, and learning the Civil Engineering trade.

The program emphasizes hands-on project work, mentorship, in-office collaboration, and a potential path to full-time at IMEG; sponsorship is not available for this internship.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
• Interest in civil design consulting and learning project deliverables.
• Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral form.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, and permit applications.
• Contribute to site drainage and grading designs.
• Support cross-disciplinary coordination and documentation.
• Assist with research for available equipment and resources.
• Maintain project notebooks and permanent records.
• Coordinate design and scheduling with other disciplines.
• Document design decisions and meetings for the client file.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final checks.
• Prepare and issue addendum information.
• Conduct periodic project site observations.
