Job summary

Benchmade, Inc. in Oregon City is seeking an Automation & Robotics Engineer II to shape and execute the company’s automation roadmap.

You will own projects from concept through production, programming FANUC robots, designing fixtures in SolidWorks, and collaborating across manufacturing, controls, and maintenance. The ideal candidate brings a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3+ years automating manufacturing, plus hands-on experience with robotics, simulation tools, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
• 3+ years automating manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Experience as a systems integrator preferred.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially low/mid volume.
• Able to manage automation projects from concept to production.
• Experience with FANUC, SolidWorks, and robotic simulations.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute automation roadmap for Benchmade.
• Lead automation projects from concept through production release.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop FANUC robot applications: programming, IO, cycle optimization.
• Create robotic simulations and cycle-time estimates.
• Design fixtures, end effectors, and automation hardware in SolidWorks.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, controls, operations, maintenance, quality, vendors.
• Provide technical ownership and support for automation systems in production.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
